Youth Baseball Teams Win Big at Provincials

Fisher River Cree Nation hosted the Youth Baseball Provincials this past weekend, teams from parts of Manitoba gathered for this exciting event. Fisher River had three teams participate in the Provincial Tournament. 
U10 Fisher River Youth Boys baseball team, received bronze metals for provincials. The U10 boys want to Thank coaches Russell Sinclair, Terence Thaddeus, and Dean Govereau. As well thanks to Gary Garson for helping with practices. The boys won one, lost two; placing 3rd overall in the tournament, they played against Cross Lake Eagles. 
The U12 Fisher River Youth Boys Team went all the way and the won the Gold in their Category. The boys played two really good games on the last day to claim the championship title. "Both games they were down but they fought back and they didn’t give up. It all came through for them" said Coach Gary Garson. The team want to thank Coach Gary Garson and Jen Garson for their help and encouragement during the tournament. 
Also winning Gold was the U14 team coached by Mike and Jen Spence. The team was assemble on short noticed but you wouldn’t of thought it by the way they played, "These young men never practiced together once" said coach Mike Spence. The team battled and played well to earn their Championship title edging the Cross Lake Wolves.
