Board of Education invites applications for a STUDENT SUPPORT LIAISON

The Student Success Officer will participate and maintain in the development of student support plans for students attending Charles Sinclair School.

o 2-3 years Post Secondary education in Social Science, Business or education in related field;
o Must possess, or be willing to obtain, a Counselling Certificate or related training from a recognized Educational Institution;
o Must possess a Grade 12 Diploma from a recognized Educational Institution;
o Able to speak and understand Cree an asset;
o Must possess a valid Manitoba driver’s license;
o Must complete pre-employment drug testing.

Specific Duties:
o Ensure good communication between parents, students and school;
o Ensure good communication between school and other agencies affecting the students (Social Services, Child and Family Services, etc.);
o Attend meetings with administration for information about students;
o Do home visits as requested by administration;
o Arrange for tutoring sessions with resource as per parent/guardian request;
o Ensure and maintain confidentiality is kept when discussing individual students;
o Ensure up-to-date statistics on daily attendance at Charles Sinclair School;
o Accompanying students home as needed;
o Delivering letters (such as suspension) to the homes of suspended students and providing brief explanations;
o Liaison with R.C.M.P, Band Constables, Child and Family agencies and Probation regarding students;
o Other duties as assigned by Principal.
