Chief Crate Obtains 8th Straight Term | Statement of Votes

FISHER RIVER CREE NATION, MB – AUGUST 24, 2017 – At about 12:30am August 24, 2017; It was announced to the members of the Fisher River Cree Nation that Chief David Crate and previous Council had successfully obtained their positions for the next two years.
To the Office of Chief:
David Crate – 593 Votes
This marks Chief Crates 8th straight term as Chief and 12th total; David also served as Councillor for a total of 3 terms.
To the Office of Councillor:
  • Darrell Thaddeus – 391 Votes
    Darrell has now been elected for his 5th straight term.
  • Carl Cochrane – 370 Votes
    Carl has been in Council for now going to be 6 straight terms, and serving 2 terms prior.
  • Vince Crate – 340 Votes
    Vince was on Council 4 straight terms before not seeking re-election on 2011; since being elected back in 2015 , this will mark Vince’s 2nd straight term and total of 6 terms altogether.
  • Shirley Ann Cochrane – 308 Votes.
    This will be Shirley’s 2nd term as Councilwoman of Fisher River Cree Nation, Shirley is also the third Woman to sit on Council; With Merdina Bradburn and Ada Wilson being the first and second respectively.
