Fisher River Cemetery Groundskeeper
 (June 24 – September 27, 2019)

Fisher River Cree Nation is seeking applications for a seasonal Cemetery Groundskeeper for the United Church and the Pentecostal Church.  The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Director of Operations, and will be responsible for the following key activities:

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Perform landscape maintenance at the United Church cemetery and at the Pentecostal Church grounds
  • Must be able to operate vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, chain saws, brush trimmers, pruning saws, edger’s;
  • Must be willing to Care for both lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, removing thatch or trimming around edges and flower beds, walkways, etc.
  • Willing to Prune or trim trees, shrubs, hedges using shears, pruners or chains saws
  • Willing to Gather and remove litter
  • Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, burial sites or other ground features
  • Maintain or repair tools, equipment such as exterior building,, fences, benches using hand or power tools
  • General maintenance of all grounds keeping equipment
  • Ensures equipment returned to proper areas
  • Duration of Employment from June 24 – September 27, 2019

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be physically fit,
  • Must be 18 years of age,
  • Hours of Work:  25 hours per week Monday to Friday, depending on the weather, might have to work on Weekends
  • Must have a vehicle and a valid Manitoba Driver’s License (license must provide with Resume)
  • Mechanical knowledge-familiar with tools and equipment

WORK CONTEXT:

  • Outdoors, exposed to weather conditions
  • Must Wear protective or safety equipment-safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats
  • Exposure to sounds, noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable
  • Spend time using hands to handle equipment/tools, standing and walking for long periods of time
  • Exposure to minor burns, cuts, stings, bites
  • Face-to-face discussions with individuals or teams
